When you’re sexually active, pregnancy is usually your greatest concern. While pregnancy is something serious to be concerned about, STD’s (sexually transmitted diseases) are equally, if not more, worrisome. You are only at risk for pregnancy about three-five days per month (around the time of ovulation), but you are at risk for getting an STD every time you have sex.

The Basics- There are now more than a dozen STD’s, several of which are chronic, life-long infections. In the United States, an estimated 19 million new infections are diagnosed each year—over half of which occur in people ages 15-24. This costs the US health care system about $17 billion per year.

Call the Lennon Pregnancy Center (313) 277-5637 for referrals to your closest STD testing location.
